Around 5,000 children are killed or seriously injured Britain's roads each year (AA). A third of all victims of cycling, and a quarter of cycling fatalities are children. The numbers have been falling in recent years, thanks in large part to the work of safety campaign groups such as Brake, RoSPA and APIL, and the resulting policy of the government.
In 2006 the government announced a new cycling proficiency for children who are being tested by 3,000 children in the national roll-out. In2006 a new law entered into force, children under the age of 12 tall and less than 4 feet 5 inches, to use a correct child restraint while traveling in a vehicle. The government estimates that 2000 deaths a year and would prevent injuries.
The law may be able to recognize that the children likely to be less cautious than adults, and claims the children are often successful, even if it seems that the child was at fault. The claim will be brought in the name of the child by aParent or guardian.
